I don't get to blog much these days (maybe it's lack of "inspiration"...;-))
But, I do want to share with you one of my passions- the retro/vintage posters...

I love old commercials and posters. There's something so naive and innocent about them, and yet- you can find a lot of humor in them. Here are several examples you can find on art.co.uk (I especially love the witty ones):

You can also find the artistic ones, that are influenced by all sorts of popular styles in art:Like many times before- I'd like to recommend an ISRAELI company, who deals with this style (amongst others). They are called TALUPO and they've got some really cool and fun stuff:

Each Friday there's an art & crafts fair held in Nahalat Binyamin (Tel-Aviv).

You can find all sorts off unique art works over there.

I've wandered around this fair yesterday and came across this talented young artist.

His nickname is "PAPAFORK". He specializes in turning an ordinary cutlery into... well, almost anything...so, if you're struggling with what to buy as a housewarming present, to a colleague or for any occasion - you're more than welcome to checkout his site !

Here’s one of the most important and yet, design wise, neglected part of any house- I’ll give you a clue- it’s were most of you have to “sit and think about it”…;-)
Well, I’m talking about the lavatory.
While most of us have a very dull and bland bathroom, there were some designers who actually came up with some pretty cool designs:

AQUA ONE TECHNOLOGIES had this cool yet not really atractive…idea of combining these two “hobbies” together…

MoodyAquariumSink by ITALBRASS on the other hand, thought it would be better to integrate those fish with a sink. What do you think ?

Well, speaking of unconventional combinations, here’s an eco friendly one…you have to do your laundry and you have to go to the loo, so what’s more logical than combining those two together ??

If you have a few dollars to spend, inspite of the current financial situation, Jemal Wright is offering you literally to “flush it down this Swarovski Crystal Studded toilet”…(I hope you’re sitting down for this- it would cost you around 75,000 USD).
For those of you, who prefer the more colourful version, take a look at his website.If all you want to do is upgrade your toilet seat, there are some really cool and refined designs by KOHLER.
Did it ever happened, that you just had to get up in the middle of the night, and go to the loo ? well, you guys, just so you don’t miss …here’s a lightening idea…The JONNY GLOW…and it’ll only cost you around 13$ to keep the toilet clean and your wives happy…
After that good night sleep, it’s time for “Good Morning Sunshine” by Meike van Schijndel and Brian Golsteijn-it’s a BATHROOM MANIA, I tell you !
The most important thing- don’t forget to wash your hands:

My sister was looking for a refrigerator- what can be better excuse than this, for me to jump into the "internet pool", looking for some cool designs ?!

Well, first of all, I came accross SMEG's colourful and very cool refrigerators. SMEG has all sort of contemporary designs, but I prefer those 50's retro:

If you're looking for a bit more "masculine" design- look no further than TEN50 DESIGNS (now known as "Heartland Appliances"). Most of the designs look like something taken out of the bikers world (and so does the price...):

Sometimes, men like to get in touch with their feminine side (not the men I know...but I've heard they exist...on the other hand- that's what they say about Bigfoot). Anyway, for you, and for us, women, LG, has come up with these delicate, artistic floral designed refrigerators, designed by Ha Sang-rim, as part of the Gallery Kitchen concept scheme :

Talking about artistic refrigerators, here are a couple of Israeli examples, by AMCOR-ART (AMPA). Once you're fed up with them, all you have to do is change the door:

Someone once said that the world is complex, dynamic, multidimensional; the paper (in this case- wallpaper) is static, flat. How are we to represent the rich visual world of experience and measurement on mere flatland ?! Well, every Design depends largely on constraints, so It seems, sometimes, constraints and limitations can be an advantage…
Here are a few, who seem to manage designing a whole new world out of this 2D material:
As EIJFFINGER manage to show, you can “change the world”, insert a different atmosphere and colours or play with various dimensions of the room, just by putting up a wallpaper…:

Hay, and if you really want to, there is a great way to go back in time…straight to the 70’s with retro chic wallpapers:

The wall decals are a great replacement for the traditional wallpaper. If you’re not so sure, you want the hassle involved in putting up a wallpaper and if you prefer the graphic approach (though, there are great wallpapers with beatiful graphic designs), here are some examples:

If you have no problem with the hassle, but just can’t afford the “real thing”, you can create the “wallpaper effect” using stencils and the end-resualt would look just as nice: You can also try the Roller- stencils:
There are endless ways to design your walls- all you've got to do, is start...

There is an Irish saying: “Firelight will not let you read fine stories but it's warm and you won't see the dust on the floor” – Well, we’ve come far since those days we’ve had to use fire, and I much rather talk about lamps…so, “let it be light”…I’ve decided to look for some really unique and somewhat funny and amusing examples for you to enjoy. It’s just a drop in the ocean, but a very inspiring one.

Here's a bulb, designed by Hironao Tsuboi and if to quote from his site he aims "for a design that gives you goose bumps"- Well, does it ?

I guess, this is David Graas's interpretation for a box. No, wait, it's a lamp. Or is it ?!
If you lost a button or if the cat unstitched your favorite sweater, maybe, you can ask CUCULO to make a lamp out of it...:

This time I’ve decided to dedicate this article to recycled artifacts.
You wouldn’t believe the quantity and variety of designed and recycled items and what can be created out of the most corny and common tools of the everyday life, by talented designers.
I challenge your creativity- look at things from a different perspective, try to think out of the box (maybe it would help, if you turned it into a round ball…)- and basically, try to design and create from materials you’re surrounded by.
See for yourselves, how a touch of creativity, a bit of imagination and a sprinkle of innovation can make the difference …:

Carlos Salgado and Bart Bettencourt, the designers of SCRAPILE collect and repurpose discarded scraps of wood from New York's woodworking industry. I think the outcome is magnificent !
